Program update for March and April
Two recent International Conferences were jointly organized with the Christian Conference of Asia, the first one dealing with caste-based discrimination and exclusion of the Dalit people in India and other countries in South Asia; and the second was on the long-standing conflicts in Asia, with a focus on the war in Sri Lanka.
I. The "Global Ecumenical Conference on Justice for Dalits" was held at the Royal River Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand from 21st to 24th of March 2009. The Conference was jointly organized by the World Council of Churches (WCC) and the Lutheran World Federation (LWF), and hosted by the Christian Conference of Asia(CCA).
II. The second event was the "South Asian Conference on Peace, Security and
Development", held at the Ecumenical Christian Centre, Bangalore, India from 30th March to 2nd April 2009. This Conference was jointly organized by the World Council of Churches (WCC), the Christian Conference of Asia (CCA) and the South Asian Council of Churches (SACC).
